NEWS RECORD FOR THE WORLD'S HEAVIEST PULL-UP

NEWS RECORD FOR THE WORLD'S HEAVIEST PULL-UP

Hello friends! Do you want to know who holds the record for the heaviest weighted pull up in the world? A Spaniard! And this has been true since just a few days ago, when David Marchante has beaten the previous Guinness record for weighted pull-up, surpassing the 93.53 kg of the American Steven Proto. Stay until the end to also read some pretty curious bodyweight pull-up world records. What is the pull-up record?

David is also a very popular figure in the world of fitness and sports performance. He began his career as a trainer years ago on the well-known YouTube network. Under the name PowerExplosive, he created a channel dedicated to strength sports, fitness and nutritional advice. He has more followers every day.

A new Guinness World Record for heaviest weighted pull up  beats Steven Proto

The idea of breaking the record for the heaviest weighted pull-up in the world has been on David's mind for quite some time. Now, he has had the chance to fulfill that dream. He has performed the lift live for the whole country on the well-known program El Hormiguero.

The pull-up, as many of you know, is an exercise that consists of hanging from a bar with your arms extended and pulling your body weight with the help of your arms and back until your chin goes over the bar.

It is a very demanding exercise, which is often required in competitive examinations for jobs that require good physical performance, such as firefighters, police or security officer. For many untrained people, getting to do their first pull-up is not easy and can take several months of training and dedication...

But... what is a weighted pull-up? For those who do not know, it is a progression of the exercise in which, in addition to lifting our body weight, we use a belt where a chain with a carabiner and weight discs will be hooked. The goal is to add extra difficulty to the exercise and it is certainly not easy.

How heavy was David's pull-up? In front of the cameras, he lifted an astonishing 96.85 kg. Then he amazed us all by doing two pull-ups while hanging on water jugs weighing 95 kg! At the end, behind the cameras, he achieved another valid lift with no less than 104.55 kg. In doing so, he beat the previous world record twice. He beat it by 11 kilograms on his second attempt and definitively set a new official weighted pull up world record.

Performing ballasted pull-ups is something that requires a great deal of perseverance. Every kilogram added to the chain makes it difficult to lift and, in order to lift more, it is necessary to dedicate many hours to it. So imagine the merit of performing a pull-up with more than 100 kilograms hanging from your body!

In addition, the rules were very strict and the attempt was supervised by a Guinness judge. He had to start with his arms fully stretched, go up with only the strength of his arms (without any kind of impulse or leg movement), put his chin over the bar and then go down without dropping sharply.

The different websites and blogs related to the world of fitness and exercise have quickly echoed this news. We also wanted to dedicate a blog post to PowerExplosive's feat. Without a doubt, he deserves congratulations and it is a source of pride for all of us that he has brought such an impressive Guinness record to Spain.

How was David Marchante's preparation for the weighted pull up world record?

Achieving this incredible mark has not been a "two-day thing". This young man has been involved in the sport practically since he was a child. Pull-ups are his favorite exercise and he has been doing weighted pull-ups since he was a teenager. In addition, before achieving this record, he needed several months of preparation with a lot of strictly planned training. Due to the rigorous Guinness regulations, it was not just about moving a weight, but doing it with the correct and perfect technique. There is a lot of work and effort behind this result.

What do I need to start doing and improving pull-ups?

Starting to do pull-ups is very easy and does not require any expensive or hard to get equipment. Usually, every gym has a pull-up bar, so you can start there. However, even if you plan to train at home, you can do it, as you only need to have a bar hanging on the door or bolted to the wall.

You can start whenever you want and see how far you can go. Pull-ups are an excellent strength building exercise. We hope this post has inspired you to see that improvement is possible and that you can achieve the goals you set for yourself. Don't worry if you can't do any pull-ups, as there are different methods (like rubber bands) and routines that will help you get your first pull-up. Once you get a few, you can go to the next level and start to pull yourself up, which is a challenge!

We encourage you to do pull-ups and achieve the following goals:

- Do your first pull-up, if you don't do any yet.
- Do pull-ups with 40% of your body weight (David PowerExplosive of the heaviest pull-up is an international strength athlete with a genetic background that can't be ignored. His mark is too much for almost anyone. We have considered 40% of your weight as a respectable but affordable mark for the average athlete).
